Magnolia Flats is a six-unit deeply affordable housing development on the East Side of Saint Paul, serving families at 30% AMI. The project is developed by Dalton Outlaw — Saint Paul native, first-generation college graduate, and founder of Element Gym, a community boxing gym rooted indiscipline and empowerment. Through Outlaw Development, Dalton is channeling the same commitment to his neighbors into the built environment, creating homes that build lasting wealth and stability for families who need it most. Magnolia introduces a housing-type new to the Twin Cities: large four-bedroom units designed for the reality of multi-generational living. These are genuine homes— open, generous spaces where extended families can cook together, raise children, and support one another across generations. D/O Architects approached the design with clarity and restraint, delivering high-quality finishes and considered design within the tight constraints of a deeply affordable budget. Magnolia is the built expression of a simple conviction: that the families who need housing the most deserve the best of what architecture can offer.
